Typical application: medical grade of tantaum tube used as radiopaque markers and the surgical implants material or medical device.
Tantalum Marker Bands are marking rings made of tantalum that are commonly used in the medical device field. These marker rings are usually applied to specific locations on medical devices such as catheters or implants to provide visual marking. Due to Tantalum's biocompatibility, high density and X-ray transparency, Tantalum Marker Bands have become a common choice in the medical industry, especially in radiological and interventional procedures. They help doctors and healthcare professionals pinpoint and track specific areas to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment. Marker bands are made by cutting tantalum small tubing or tantalum capillary tubing which can be used as radiopaque markers during angioplasty and other minimally-invasive catheter procedures. Typically, Tantalum seamless tubing may be cut into tantalum cut tubing used as radiopaque marker bands and other application, tantalum marker bands are used as medical device components where radiopacity is required. e.g. tantalum capillary or tantalum cut tubing ASTM F560 (medical grade) was cut into the miniature tantalum markers(radiopaque marker), which is the suture radiopaque marker placement, tantalum myocardial markers (inner diameter 0.8 mm, outer diameter 1.3 mm, length 1.5 to 3.0 mm) were inserted beneath the left ventricular (LV) epicardial surface along 4 equally spaced longitudinal meridians for LV volume determination.
The implantation of tantalum as a radiopaque marker into the submucosal layer of the GI tract in a porcine model is technically feasible and safe. Long-lasting fluoroscopically visible tantalum markings could facilitate subsequent surgical and radiation therapy, in which, Gold and tantalum are mentioned as materials which are more visible under X-ray illumination than the stainless steel metal of the stent.
Tantalum tubing can be processed into tantalum ring electrodes.
ASTM F 560 medecal grade Tantalum, element #73, is a shiny, flexible, and highly radio-opaque metal. Though more brittle than stainless steel, tantalum exhibits high ductility and resistance to corrosion.
ASTM F 560 medecal grade Tantalum is ideal for viewing and supporting, but more biocompatible options exist.
ASTM F 560 medecal grade Tantalum is a highly radiopaque material, which is easily seen on fluoroscopy.
ASTM F 560 medecal grade tantalum exhibits excellent radiopacity and it is also Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)-compatible.
The bioinertness of tantalum was reconfirmed as was its suitability for use as skeletal and soft tissue radiographic markers.
